The Brotherhood Park fireweed provides a spectacular foreground for viewing the Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau, Alaska.

Fireweed grows up to 8 feet tall and flowers in mid to late summer. It has a history of use as medicinal plant by Native Americans and also as human food and dog food, though taste depends on timing. Presently candles, soups, jellies, and and tea are made in part with Fireweed.
